Danny Lilley and Shaun Dunne ventured down to the home of Haverhill Rovers to take part in the Subbuteofest International open this weekend.
There was a strong field of players from the UK, Italy, Malta and Austria so the lads had their work cut out.
Both Danny and Shaun did not advance past their group stage both finishing third and dropped into the plate. However some valuable experience was gained from tough opponents in the group.
Shaun bowed out in the barrage in an epic encounter against Joe Harrington 2-1. It was end to end but Shaun just couldn’t find the net having a number of chances late in the game.
Danny advanced to the Semi final of the plate where he was eventually defeated 3-1 vs Cayne Matthews to set up an all Matthews final against his daughter Ruby.
Needless to say the boys did the club proud and look forward to the next big outing for the club.
The event held annually was run by the ESA and Haverhill Rovers Gerry Harrington and once again the venue and event did not disappoint. Congratulations for a fantastic event and we look forward to next year.
