Shaun Dunne went on his travels once again to take part in a number of events over the last few weeks.
Last weekend Shaun travelled to Chesterfield for their inaugural WASPA event featuring 20 players in a five round Swiss format.
Some big names were there such as Elliot Bellefontaine, Aaron Skinner, Mick Hammonds and Justin Scott.
Shaun started against Chris Bedford and lost 4-0 taking time to adjust to the Astropitches but came back in the second game beating Mark Weaver of the Leicester club 4-0.
Next was the host of the day, Andrew Forster-Fake where a fantastic contest followed. Andrew took the lead but pressure from Shaun told and it finished 1-1 with Shaun missing chances to win the game.
Brian Kinrade was Shaun’s next opponent to which another close game followed. Shaun took the lead only to be brought back to 1-1 by a silly mistake leaving the keeper out of goal. It remained 1-1 in an end to end encounter.
Finally Shaun took on Finley Skinner to which an end to end game ended 0-0 which both parties were happy with the result.
Shaun ended the day joint 11th with 6 points ruing missed opportunities.

It was a fantastic event and Shaun is entered to their next one on the 30th October.
Shaun travelled to Morecambe with World Cup fever in the air on Sunday with 8 players turning out for their monthly WASPA event.
Shaun was drawn with Dan Mason, Luca Lanzini and Andy Grundy.
Shaun started the day with a 3-2 win against Luca in yet another end to end encounter which has become trademark of any Shaun vs Luca match.
Then a setback with a 1-0 loss in a tight game where Shaun had most of the chances but could not put them away!
Shaun got out of the group with a 2-0 win over Andy Grundy with a steady performance to get Shaun into the semi finals finishing second in the group.
In the semi finals awaited Brian Daley which is always a tough fixture any day of the week. A very tight game followed with chances at either end but Brian dominating play in the closing stages. Shaun hung on for a 0-0 draw to send the game to a shootout.
It was another close encounter but Shaun scored his 4th attempt saving Brian’s final two penalties to take the contest 1-0 on shots.
Shaun once again met Dan Mason in the final where he was quickly 1-0 down. However with pressure he forced an error with the flicking keeper and equalised. He piled the pressure on further hitting the bar and post but couldn’t find the winner. The contest went to shots.
Shaun conceded on Dan’s fourth shot and could not reply therefore having to settle for the runner up slot.
